a day in the life of me...

yesterday i had another photo shoot with my church group. this one was much more interesting. the point of it was to get pictures of people that weren't in the last photo shoot, however, only 3 new people showed up... so in my mind, there was no point taking these. first downside... we (not by my choice) went to a park... sure parks are pretty, but thats just it, they are pretty, you dont take large group photos in a park, you take children, individuals, couples, wedding parties, etc. in a park... so needless to say, i was having a creative block. i did, however, end up with a few shots that i liked...

this one, was a complete fluke. i was actually just testing my flash on out on my friend leanna. and well i ended up really liking it.

this next one is of a couple of friends Kelli and Kelly... i just love the natural smiles and genuine fun they are having... beautiful girls!

this is one where we were all walking back to the cars and i just told jason and kelly to turn around... fabulous... i love candids!

i can't wait till i have time to really "hone" my "skills"...

this so called thing... work

here i am sitting at my desk, staring at the back of the pastors head and thinking to myself how extremely bored i am and how i wish i could do what i love full time! i know things like this are a working progress, but still... any way... i have a photo shoot tonight, i am taking the young professionals pictures again, part two. it should be pretty fun.

here's my favorite one from the last shoot i did...

These are a few of my friends, Jeff, Jason and Lucas... we were going for the "album cover" look. hopefully it was successful. anyway i love it

the world according to me...

there's nothing special or spectacular about me or what i do... i love people, every aspect of them... people watching is one of my favorite things to do, i guess that would explain my love of photography. i love the idea that God has given me a talent where i can capture things that he calls beautiful in a lens and record it forever. pictures are the only thing from our past that can truly live on... true stories can be told, but what is a story without a picture? pictures bring life back into a story... and i am so thankful that God has given me this gift.

i use to think that i was not artistic (i can only draw stick figures), but i have always loved pictures, i loved taking them, looking at them... everything about them. they spoke to me. now, i see that art is not in what you draw, but what you see, what you hear, what you do. art is in our life. musicians, painters, poets, dancers, photographers, and people who live their lives can truly be artists! what i am trying to say was so perfectly said by a friend of mine "photography is the art of preserving time". so yay... i am artistic... that makes me happy...

ok, the babbling must stop, i am no longer making sense. this is a picture i did of a friends triplets. they are all 17! can you imagine having 17 year old triplets... to me that is insane... the real kicker is when you meet the "kids" and find out how amazing they are...
